Rise of Velmara

For millennia, the world of Velmara thrived untouched by the cold hand of war. The Velmari, a peaceful, enlightened species, had built great cities of bio-sculpted stone and luminous crystal, their culture centered around balance with nature. They did not conquer, nor did they seek power but then the sky split apart.

A war unlike anything they had imagined raged above them.

Colossal warships of silver and black clashed in the heavens, their weapons tearing through the fabric of the sky itself. Blazing arcs of energy cracked across the clouds, and the sound of distant explosions rumbled like the anger of the gods.

The Camalans had arrived nomadic conquerors, fleeing the collapse of their own empire, seeking a new world to claim and rebuild but they were not alone.

The Kra’Zek Warlords, bio-mechanical monsters from the abyss of space, hunted the Camalans, seeking their destruction.

The Seydrin Ascendancy, a race of self-proclaimed cosmic purists, wished to purge Velmara of all foreign influence. For decades, Velmara’s sky was a battlefield.

The Velmari, incapable of interfering, could only watch in awe and terror, their sacred lands shaking beneath the weight of a war beyond their understanding, then silence.

The Camalans had won, their enemies were shattered, their ships burning in the planet’s orbit, but Velmara was no longer untouched, It belonged to the Camalans now.

The Camalans did not simply rule Velmara, they reshaped it.

They saw the Velmari as soft, weak, and undisciplined, yet useful. Their bodies were perfectly adapted to the planet’s ecosystem, their minds quick to learn.

So, the Camalans bred with them. The first hybrids were taller, stronger, their skin bearing the shimmering bronze hue of their Camalan ancestors. They inherited the Velmari’s deep connection to the planet but were also imbued with Camalan ambition hunger for control, for conquest, for supremacy and with them, Velmara changed.

The old ways of communal leadership and shared wisdom crumbled.

In their place, a rigid hierarchy formed, ruled by the strongest, the most cunning, the most ruthless. The hybrid elite seized power, constructing towering citadels of metal and glass, strip-mining the land for resources, and expanding their influence beyond Velmara’s system.

For the first time in its history, Velmara had emperors, warlords, and tyrants and greed became the new god.

Not all accepted this new order. A faction known as The Verdant Moon arose a coalition of pure Velmari traditionalists and disillusioned hybrids who saw what was happening to their world. The forests withered under industry, the oceans darkened with pollution, the planet’s balance was unraveling.

The rebellion waged a war of sabotage destroying factories, assassinating officials, whispering to the people that the Camalans had brought ruin, not salvation.

But they were hunted, crushed, and forced into hiding, Velmara belonged to the Camalan bloodline now.

Then, from the wastelands of the dying forests, a voice arose.

His name was Peygous, a mysterious prophet who claimed to have seen the true fate of Velmara a vision of fire, of cosmic ruin and of destruction yet to come.

He preached that Velmara could only be saved by rejecting Camalan ambition and by returning to the lost wisdom of the past. His followers compiled his teachings into The Books of Peygous, sacred texts that warned of doom if Velmara did not find

balance once more, but the ruling elite saw him as a threat.

They mocked him, branded him a madman, a fool, a liar.

Then they executed him. This was to happen at the

Cross of Sagh Temple before thousands of his followers, they burned him alive.

His final words, screamed through the flames, became legend:

"You have sealed your fate. The sky will return, and when it does,

you will beg for mercy, but none will come."

His disciples were hunted, imprisoned, and executed.

His books were outlawed, his name erased from history,

yet in the darkness, his teachings endured.

From the ashes of Peygous, new religions emerged,

each twisting his words to serve their own purpose.

The Order of the Eternal Flame believed Velmara could only be saved by purging all foreign influence, by eradicating the hybrid elite and their followers.

The Children of Peygous sought to fulfill his prophecy,

believing that a new messiah would come to bring salvation.

The Celestial Unity, made up of Camalan loyalists, saw Peygous as a false prophet, and they fought to crush all who followed his path. For centuries, Velmara was consumed by war.

The wars of the sky were forgotten. Now, only the wars of the people remained.

Centuries of time buried the past. The old Camalan wars were reduced to myth. The idea that Velmara had once been a battlefield among the stars was now considered absurd.

Anyone who spoke of the old wars was ridiculed. The ruling governments dismissed them as lunatics, conspiracy theorists, fools lost in fantasy.

The people no longer looked up above the steel cities, their skies now choked with pollution and their past erased by time and control.

That is until one day when things changed and something eerily familiar returned.

At first it was just rumors of flying vessels seen in the clouds, or of lights that moved too fast to be natural. The government laughed calling it all Superstition, Hallucinations and public hoaxed hysteria, but the sightings increased. Entire cities now begun to see them, as for the first time in generations, people looked up.

The questions began. Were they alone? Had they ever truly been alone? And, most terrifying of all had Peygous been right all along?

The sky was now burning once more with ships massive and ancient, emerging from the void. Not Camalan, not Seydrin and not Kra’Zek but something else, something much older.

So the governments scrambled and the people panicked as the prophets of Peygous crawled from the shadows and whispered

"It is time."

Velmara may well had forgotten it's past, but the past had never forgotten Velmara,

and now, the gods were coming home.
